12:8 Counsel/Council

Had to check back to see whether today's Advent word is Counsel or Council.

Wise counsel or Council of nations.

The House of Representatives is a council.

It's Counsel, to tell the truth.

But nobody ever gave me any decent advice--at least any I ever followed.

And I never had to stand before the court.

(Just as I can never get Capital and Capitol straight.

Capital city, Capital letter, and Das Kapital. 

But Capitol building--like the Minnesota State Capitol where the anti-MAGA protests happened, with its awesome dome.)

Evidently council is a deliberative body, while counsel is what that body decides.

Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. Matt 12:13

And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him. Mark 3:8

(Both passages perhaps borrowed from the lost Book of Q.)

And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation [counsel?] with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate.

12-3 Quietness: The Comforter Has Come

Blessed Quietness , Manie Payne Ferguson, 1897 1 Chronicles 22:9-10 Joys are flowing like a river since the Comforter has come, who abides with us forever, makes the trusting heart a home. I just need to turn off my thoughts for my heart to be trusting, to feel the Comforter inside me. And especially turn off the news and stop looking at Facebook! David's reign was fraught with enemies so that he could not build a house in God's name because of all the blood he'd shed.
